Follow Secretary Pompeo The crisis rocking Hong Kong, if not carefully handled, may actually lead to World War III. Hong Kong is a territory in China formally administered by Britain but handed over to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) after reaching an agreement. Hong Kong, since then has been a semi-autonomous area that serves as the link where China trade with the world. Hong Kong is separated from the the Chinese mainland being that it is an island sort of. The people of Hong Kong have their government being answerable to the Chinese government. However, of late, there has been attempts by China to undermine the self-autonomy of the people of Hong Kong and impose their government on them. This has sparked a strong protest from the people of Hong Kong. To suppress the protesters, the Chinese government has enacted laws banning such type of gathering as unlawful and ready to crush anyone disobeying the law. Many have been reportedly killed by the Chinese government as a result of this. The people of Hong Kong keep crying to the United States of America to liberate them. Some hours ago, Mike Pompeo, the US Secretary of State, took to his official Twitter handle to notify the whole world of that the US has started its Sanction on the ruling party of China, CCP over their activities in Hong Kong. Below is Pompeo's tweet: 'President @realDonaldTrump promised to punish the CCP officials responsible for eviscerating Hong Kong’s freedoms. Today, we are taking action to do just that– we've announced visa restrictions on CCP officials responsible for undermining Hong Kong’s autonomy and human rights. ' This sanction seems to be the beginning of a face off between these two world powers. Many people have commented telling the US to use force on CCP because the leader of the party is very stubborn and hailing the US for their decision. China may continue its activities in Hong Kong which may tempt the US to align with NATO to liberate Hong Kong. China may not be ready to let Hong Kong go being that the latter plays a major role in the economy of the former. Don't you think that this conflict has the capacity of escalating to World War III? Being a communist state, there is every permutation that Russia will team up with China and then the US with NATO. May we continue to pray.
