Welcome to MJVAFRICA network.......Battle Line Drawn Against Obaseki as Tinubu, APC Governor, Others Meet to Plot Victory For Ize-Iyamu Akanfe60 Jul 6, 2020 12:35 PM Opera News Nigeria Politics Only for Opera News fans. Follow The All Progressive Congress (APC) has set wheels on the fast lanes in the latest bid to overcome Edo state again as the ruling party's bigwigs are set to hold a meeting where they will map out plans and strategies. The gubernatorial election in the south-south state is scheduled to hold on September 19 and all political parties have been trying to_ outsmart one another. It was gathered that top echelons of All Progressives Congress (APC) including governors elected on the platform of the party and some national leaders will meet in order to plot victory for the party's flagbearer Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. Sources who spoke with This Day claimed that the meeting will hold offline with the directives of President Buhari . Among those expected to grace the meeting are some members of the Ize-Iyamu campaign council led by the kano state Governor Abdullahi Ganduje All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is also billed to be in the meeting which will see strategies unleashed against the election bid of Governor Godwin Obaseki. This publication had reported that Governor Obaseki, after falling down the pecking order with top bigwigs of the party, defected to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside his deputy Philip Shaibu. The governor's defection came on the heel of his disqualification by the APC's screening committee on Friday, June 12. Speaking on ruling party's plans for the Edo poll, a governor of the APC disclosed that ruling party will rub stomachs with top members and come out clear with a masterplan. 'We are consulting all the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, party’s leaders, especially our national leader, Bola Tinubu, and other party’s stakeholders on the need for us to meet very soon. 'Already, the campaign council has been constituted and members will be inaugurated this week,' the source said. Meanwhile it earlier reported that A former chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Buba Galadima has predicted that the alleged factions in the party might end up breaking it into pieces. Vanguard reports that the former APC chieftain said wisdom and extreme care are the sole two factors which can save the ruling party from blowing into pieces ahead of 2023. Recall that the crisis in the All Progressives Congress (APC) reached its apex recently as President Muhammadu Buhari was compelled to intervene, leading to a dissolution of the party's leadership under Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. The party subsequently appointed a caretaker committee assigned with the responsibility of reuniting members and producing a new leadership through a national convention. Buba Galadami, however, said the party still remains divided into 3 major factions: Tinubu/Oshiomhole faction, Amaechi/ El-Rufai/ Badaru faction, and the presidency faction. The former chieftain of the ruling party claimed the presidency faction also has subdivisions. 'Unless there's wisdom, and perseverance is applied, they will never come together. Just like water and palm oil, they will never meet. 'It will be a fight to the-finish for the soul of the ruling party because whosoever controls the executive would produce the presidential candidate of the party in 2023,' he said.
