With the recent outburst of your husband on Instagram, why are you just about to respond to the allegations? The honest truth is I was in my bedroom when my friend walked into the room with a couple of other people and woke me up; and basically just started narrating what had happened. When someone wakes you up from sleep you… The honest truth, my first thought was I thought maybe they found him dead. When they said they didn’t know where he was, my thought was, and everybody’s thought was, we need to find him. He’s suicidal, we need to find him, we need to make sure he’s alive and he’s well. So, my initial thought was not… I didn’t even know what he had said. It was just ‘Let’s find him, let’s make sure that he’s okay and he’s alive’. So I couldn’t respond to anything because I didn’t even know the extent of what he had said till much later. Someone actually took my phone away from me. They didn’t want me to see what was said online. I was just scared for his life. I was just panicking. At what point did you find out that he was okay and that nothing is wrong with him? At about 10-11, we got a call. We were in my bedroom – Banky’s mum came and she was praying, we were all praying. I know that his family in LA were praying as well. About 10-11am, we got the call that he’s been found on Lekki bridge and at least he was safe. He was, I believe in Banky’s house, and he was okay. READ: How Banky W and Peter Okoye saved Teebillz from committing suicide I remember very well 2 years ago we were all in Dubai for your wedding ceremony and yesterday was supposed to be you anniversary. I saw on Instagram you posted videos of you guys celebrating your new single which was trending yesterday, TJ wasn’t there. At what point did all these events started? My marriage and relationship has been very public and at one point I decided that I didn’t want to make it public anymore so I’m always nervous when it comes to his birthday because if I post, they read meaning to it. If I don’t then they’ll say we’ve broken up or there is a problem in our relationship. In this case I knew the anniversary was coming and I was either going to post or not, but the honest truth is that for the past two months, TJ and I have not been together. And it was something that we were trying to work through but for me I knew that this marriage wasn’t going to work. It’s been like that for the past two months, I didn’t know if I should post and keep up appearances or if I should face reality. READ: I have been mentally tortured by the woman I gave everything to – Teebillz reveals Did he try to contact you on your anniversary? I haven’t spoken to TJ in about a week now, he had left the house. We were supposed to get some documents for my son, his passport actually. So I was calling TJ on Sunday night because the interview was on Monday and he had booked the interview for Jam Jam online, so I wanted to know the time and other details but he was reading the messages and he wasn’t responding. I remember I sent a message that reads, ‘TJ please let’s at least be friends and good parents to Jamil and whatever is going on between us please let’s do this for Jamil’, but he still didn’t respond, so I left it and I know one day we’ll apply for his passport. At what point did you realize the marriage won’t work? I have covered up for a lot of hurt in our relationship. I was in Jamaica recently and just before I went to Jamaica, I found out that I was pregnant again. We both discussed it and tried to figure out how to manage the situation, because it was another baby so soon. So I went to London and got on a 10-hour flight to Jamaica to shoot a video with Busy Signal. But on the morning we were supposed to shoot the video, while I was doing my make-up, I started bleeding uncontrollably, so I started panicking and I called TJ. I took pictures and sent it to him, they rushed me to the hospital, I had complications but I still couldn’t reach him, so Thompson who was with me, had to help me sign all the documents in the hospital. So I got discharged from the hospital and still tried to call TJ to let him know what happened because he didn’t call to see how I was or know what happened. I got back to Nigeria and while we were sleeping, his phone was going off and it was middle of the night and I kept on seeing the name calling him ‘Edible Catering’. And it didn’t make sense because why would a catering company be calling my husband at that time of the night and yes as a woman, I picked up his phone and I went through his phone got into his Whatsapp and there’s this long conversation with this same ‘Edible’ number. READ: ‘Whatever demons you are fighting, come out on top’ – Sauce Kid tells Teebillz And I’m seeing stuff like ‘Can we meet at the hotel tonight’, ‘Do you live alone’, and ‘Is it ok if I come by’. The last message I saw was, ‘I had to leave at 7am today because you were still sleeping’. Then he responded saying, ‘Yea because you knocked me out last night, it was a great night’. So obviously I woke him up and was like what’s going on, and he said to me, it’s not what I think. Then I asked if all these happened on our bed, then he said no it was at a hotel but nothing happened that they were just chilling. The thing that hurt me the most was that this happened while I was in Jamaica in a hospital and I was sending him pictures but he didn’t bother to respond because he was chilling with another woman in a hotel room. At that point, I packed my stuff, I took my son and I went to my friend’s house, her name is Tiwa as well, I stayed the night there and she asked me one question, ‘What’s the next step?’. And I said to her, ‘I’m done’. Has he been cheating on you before now? I don’t think we have enough time to cover that, I don’t even know where to start or which one to say first. I’ve covered up for so long because I wanted people to believe this story that TJ is the head of the house, he’s the one that takes care of me, a loving husband, I wanted people to believe that and I wanted him to feel like a man, so I covered up so many times. Since my son has been born, TJ has not spent one naira. I paid for the hospital bills, I paid for his flight to come to London, I paid for the apartment we stayed for two months, the clothes, the nursery, the grocery. Even when we were in London we didn’t just go shopping for my son, we shopped for TJ as well so that when we come back to Nigeria he’ll have new things because his excuse most times is, ‘I don’t have money, I don’t have money…’ So I try to pay for everything because I have to pay for everything, otherwise where would we be? So at least he can go out to hustle or focus on the contracts he’s looking for. And he’ll still tell me he doesn’t have money to buy diapers but he has money to get haircut twice a week, he has money to do laundry, he has money to take women to hotel rooms. Is it possible that you do everything for him but still don’t respect him as a husband? That’s a lie! I’m not going to sit here and lie to you that every time I come home I cook… and I’m not going to make excuses and say it’s because of my career that’s why I’m busy. I’m the same person that works and puts money in the house, I’m the same person that works long hours to make sure we have a roof over our heads. I come home late most times and very tired, sometimes I’m out of the country. There’s no time that I come downstairs to make something to eat and I don’t make for TJ and because I know what my schedule is, I had to hire a cook and I don’t think there’s anything wrong in that. Most times he leaves home and doesn’t come back till 7am at times 2pm the following day, so how am I supposed to cook for someone that’s not in the house? You come back drunk, angry; we were living on eggshells because we never know what mood he’ll be in. At times I even pray that he’s with another woman, so that way I know he’s still alive and has not gotten drunk in an accident or something else. When you sacked him as your manager, what job did he start doing? I’ll never discredit or take away the fact that TJ hustled for me; I’ll never deny that he worked hard for me or that he believed in me. But the first time I realized there was foul play was a time when he booked me for a wedding in London and our company policy is that you don’t go for a show till you’ve been fully paid. So I got to London already and I called the accountant to confirm if payment has been made and she was like they still haven’t paid o, so I called TJ again and said these people haven’t paid and he said ‘no its fine, just go, just go and perform don’t worry everything is fine’. READ: Tiwa Savage sacks Tee Billz as her manager Fortunately for me, I know one of the organizers, I pulled him aside and was like, ‘bros what’s going on, why haven’t you guys paid’, and he was like, ‘what are you talking about, we’ve paid about four months ago’ and we tried to confirm and realized they paid into TJ’s personal account and not company account. Then the other thing was TJ would declare that they paid N3m meanwhile they paid N4.5m, and out of the N3M he’s still receiving his management fee of 40%. So you are basically stealing from your wife and he doesn’t feel anything. So I had to perform at the wedding for free because TJ had already squandered the money. He also accused your mum of ‘witchcraft’? My mum is based in the UK and when I had Jamil she moved back to Nigeria with us. If anyone has ever met my mother, she’s not like that. She’s a sweet lady, she’s very British so she doesn’t hang up on traditions and she doesn’t judge. Infact a lot of times my mum will say to me, ‘Tiwa you are the wife, be patient, don’t shout, don’t curse, a woman builds the home.’ Tiwa’s mom, Cecilia Savage with David Beckham Whenever we have issues, TJ always runs to tell my mum and she always calms him down so she’s been nothing but a great support for me. So I’ll love for him to tell me if there’s something that my mother has done because I have no idea. How about his allegations that you slept with Don Jazzy, Dr Sid and 2face? I would say for the record, I have never cheated on my husband. Not with Don Jazzy, not with Dr Sid, not with 2face or anybody, and I’m willing to take a lie detector test for that. And he knows it in his heart. READ: ‘Please leave him and his family alone’ – Annie Idibia’s manager (Crying) this really hurts. I’m not going to pretend like I’ve not read comments and what people are saying about me, it hurts. And it’s not true. So what do you think drove him to attempt suicide? I know that for any human being, when your finances are not straight, you’ll be depressed and be bothered. So I know that for a while, since he stopped working for me as my manager, he’s been struggling financially, but that wasn’t my fault. I loved when we were working together and everybody loved us, but he messed up by starting to steal from me and being fraudulent, so I had no choice. I wanted to save my marriage by separating the business from the home, but TJ loves to keep up with the life, he wants to live a life that’s not true without a steady income. He went to buy a car that he knew he couldn’t afford, and I ended up paying the balance of about N3M and he says I took away his manhood because he doesn’t want people to know am the breadwinner. As a woman I want him to be the breadwinner too, and that’s why I put the balance of the car in his account so they’ll think it’s coming from him and not me. He also went to buy a Rolex watch and he still couldn’t pay up the balance and so they called me and because I don’t want it to get out in the press (people have threatened me with that before) so I always find a way to put the money in his account so he can pay off the debt. He keeps on putting us in debt all the time. He goes out to the clubs with women, spend money on drinks, leaves without paying and the club owner would call me and I’ll end up going to pay. The last one that happened that I think really triggered this whole thing was that he went to borrow N45m from someone and he’s lost the money. I just found out. I was in the studio recording and got a call that EFCC is investigating that TJ is in big trouble that people may hurt him. So in my frantic move to try and suppress the situation no one could help raise the N45m he went to borrow. Or should we talk about the fact that I walked in on him taking cocaine in my house when we were still leaving in 1004 then. It was just after we got married and I didn’t even know he does cocaine, only to walk into the kitchen and saw him snuffing. I screamed TJ!!! And he quickly hid it and he started screaming at me! So the first thing I did was call his parents. So I’m dealing with alcohol problems, the fact that you come home late, infidelity, cocaine, debts, and a husband that’s jealous of his wife’s success. Didn’t you see these coming before you got married? It’s a combination of everything; I didn’t know about the cocaine, I didn’t know about his third child in Nigeria apart from the two abroad that he tells everyone. I won’t say I didn’t see signs, even a lot of people warned me about the type of person TJ is, but I made a mistake and I’m not ashamed to say it at this point. Now that I’ve made a mistake, do I want to wait 10 years or 15 years? If you are not happy you can leave and I was scared will I ever find somebody, will I ever find happiness, will I ever find someone else to marry me? I don’t care at this point if I never get married again. All I care about now is being happy for Jamil. I care about being strong; I care about not walking on eggshells. And you know what? I do want a man that works, that can help me financially. Not saying he has to be a millionaire or billionaire, but somebody that can help or at least not put me in more debt. Has he ever physically assaulted you? No, and I’ll never play that victim card. But it was a mentally abusive relationship because all I hear everyday is how he made me, how he did this and that for me, I created you, I took you from nothing. He didn’t find me in a dustbin. READ: ‘Only cowards hit women’ – Teebillz says he has never beaten his wife What’s the status of the marriage now? It’s finally over. It’s been over for a while and I’ve covered up for a while. I think what happened is God sent because he’s made it easy for me to walk away because of what he did on social media because he got so many people angry, he called so many innocent names, he dragged many people including his own family. So if I was to consider to make it work a lot of people will warn me that if it happens again I can’t come back crying. So he’s made it easy for me to finally walk away. I’ll never stop him from seeing Jamil, never! But the only thing I’ll promise myself is to bring up my son to be a good man Till now I don’t wish anything bad on him, even when he was abusing me. First I was and still I’m concerned about him because I’m worried he might see this interview and trigger something else or lead him to do something bad but I don’t wish that for him. Tonight I’m still going to pray for him. If I didn’t care about him or his well-being, I won’t have covered up for him for this long and even now I’m still helping him find a way out from his debt. But if there’s anything that I’ve overlooked to Tunji, I’m absolutely sorry. If have done anything wrong to neglect you or not make you feel like a man, Tunji I’m sorry and you know I tried everything, you know I love you so much and I’m sorry. I never wanted to divorce and I never wanted it to come to this and I want him to get better. I’m not just saying it for the camera but I’ll always pray for him! Ⓒ Copyright NET News Ltd. Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com:..Speaker Dogara in fresh allegations 1 day ago SHARE THIS NEWS! Facebook Twitter WhatsApp Email An unrelenting Abdulmumin Jibrin, former chairman of the House of Representatives committee on appropriation, has revealed again that embattled Speaker Yakubu Dogara tried to break into his office in order to take away documents that could indict the House leadership. Speaker Yakubu Dogara and Abdulmumin Jibrin Jibrin made the revelation amid previous allegations of budget padding against Dogara and other principal members of the House who have come out to deny it. He also made more revelations in a series of tweets on Friday, July 29, 2016. The lawmaker had alleged that the speaker and others he named reportedly padded the budget with N40 billion while Dogara allegedly diverted a federal government project. READ ALSO: Dogara’s allies accuse external influence over House crisis In the fresh allegation, Jibrin said the speaker did not know that he had taken all necessary documents backing his allegations away from his office. “There has also been an attempt to break into my office at the House. “I know he wants to tamper with documents critical to his and the three others’ future investigation and prosecution but unfortunately for him we already have enough evidence in our possession. “The security and anti corruption agencies should kindly take note. “Speaker Dogara has ordered that all the computers in the appropriation secretariat be shut down and moved to his office as if that is the answer to the allegations I raised. Jibrin was a co-contender for the speakership position. He however stepped down for Dogara and became the member who actually nominated him for the position on the day of the election of principal officers of the eighth National Assembly. While Dogara and his supporters claim that Jibrin is bitter because he was removed for allegedly padding the 2016 budget, the latter actually expressed anger that his resignation as chairman of the committee had been politicised. He claims he resigned and was not sacked by the speaker. Here lies the beginning of the many revelations that is now following pressure for the speakers impeachment by some of the legislators. Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com:...Advertisement Tesla's CEO Accidentally Reveals a Big Secret Investors have been desperate to learn where Elon Musk plans to get his future lithium supply. The thing is, he just accidentally let the answer slip recently! And that means early investors can turn $5,000 into an easy $90,000 from Musk's slip-up. You can watch his incredible video footage HERE. Elon Musk's Big Day... Ruined By Alex Koyfman Written Thursday, July 28, 2016 Tomorrow, Elon Musk's biggest and most expensive pet project to date will have its official grand opening. Though it's been in operation for months already, the world's biggest lithium battery production facility — dubbed the “Gigafactory” by Musk — is set for its ceremonial ribbon cutting on July 29th. Just another example of just how much of a showman the Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) chief is. The factory is already being used to produce units of Tesla's domestic energy storage batteries — the Powerwall — but once in full production mode, it will also be used to satisfy Tesla's substantial demand for automotive batteries. At full capacity, this $5 billion factory, which is situated on 3,000 acres of Nevada desert just outside the small town of Sparks, is projected to double the world's total lithium-ion battery production volume. To the automotive industry, not to mention every sector reliant upon lithium-ion power, the event is a big deal. A very big deal. In a certain way, this consolidation of production mirrors the same advancements made by Henry Ford, when he invented the modern auto industry. Though symbolic in nature, the effect of this show has put a spotlight on the entire lithium industry, helping everything right on down to the junior miners in terms of free publicity and trading volume. Advertisement Secret algorithm predicts 67,350% stock run It's taken more than 75,000 man-hours to develop... It runs continuously, evaluating and ranking millions of patents and thousands of public and private companies... Which is precisely how it predicted mega-profit stock runs of 19,950%, 49,893%, and 67,350%. If you'd been following this powerful intel, any one of these gains could have been yours... Now the same secret algorithm has pinpointed its next multi-thousand percent winner. Get the details here for free. Elon Musk's Illusions Are Just That And yet, despite all his apparent success as a promoter, Musk appears to have failed in getting the biggest story of the season when it comes to energy storage. That honor goes to a company far smaller than Tesla — about 1/500 its market capitalization at last check. You see, just a few weeks ago, this company was caught in the middle of a battle with a giant, and somehow managed to come out on top. Daimler, parent company of the Mercedes-Benz automotive brand, made headlines back in March when it announced that its longstanding relationship with Tesla for the supply of automotive batteries for its electrical vehicle line had come to an end. Its reasoning was simple: it could make its own batteries for less money. But that wasn't the whole story. While Tesla produced and sold such batteries to a number of clients, its product lacked a key component... something it didn't produce at all, even for its own needs. Big Products; Even Bigger Flaws That component is referred to as a Power Control System, or PCS. In layman's terms, this was the brain behind the battery... the software and hardware that allowed energy to be managed. Tesla itself had its PCS needs filled by a third party, and used this third party's product for both its automotive batteries and the Powerwall domestic energy storage systems. Without the PCS, no battery coming out of the Gigafactory could function. The Gigafactory could have just as well been producing $3,000 paperweights. Daimler's own batteries suffered the same shortcoming: no in-house PCS solution. But instead of going to Tesla's third-party producer, it went with an alternative. This tiny company, which is barely a blip on Tesla's radar and employs only a few-dozen people, won out against the powerhouses of the industry. Why? Again, the reason was simple. Its PCS was proven to be the most efficient in the industry, not to mention most cost-effective. Advertisement Bill Gates is Betting the House on THIS Breakthrough Technology Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft and one of the world's richest men, is betting the house on a new technology that could make you a pile of money. In short, Gates has declared this the next world-changing technology. He believes it is so life-altering that soon we'll find one in every home. He even went so far as to launch an entire division dedicated to this technology at Microsoft. And here's the most important part: If you get in now, on the ground floor, this emerging technology could turn every $1 you invest into $10... $25... even $50 or more... Click here now to seize this opportunity. Tesla... Disrupted Moreover, it produced its own domestic energy storage units — a direct competitor to the now-famous Powerwall — only cheaper, more efficient, and more effective. By making both the battery and the PCS, this company was able to sidestep the most famous name in the industry and begin to capture market share, even as Elon Musk's giant factory emerged from the sands of the Nevada desert. It was a whole package, capable of serving an average-sized home with just a single unit (Powerwalls typically required at least two units to meet those needs). Its product line included batteries for residential buildings as well as larger ones for businesses. And even though its name was still a secret to even the biggest fans of the lithium-ion movement, its reputation was strong enough to lure the likes of Daimler away from the industry leader. So while Elon Musk will certainly get more of what he craves tomorrow — attention — it's becoming clear that it's this attention, and nothing else, that just may go down as his biggest contribution to the 21st century energy revolution. Thanks for the Free Publicity... Now Move Over Not to say that the spotlight he casts isn't helpful, because it is. The only problem is that while investors flock to Tesla on the anticipation (its stock is up 5% over the last five days), that bullishness won't last long. In fact, it's likely to evaporate as soon as the story gets stale... In today's world, that could take just days. So where does the smart money go? They go where Daimler went, seeking the long-term solution to a shortcoming that all of Musk's promotional talents simply haven't been able to cure. For investors looking for big gains on an ongoing basis, this may be one of the best stories to see the light of day in years. And if that doesn't convince you, here's one more cherry to top this sundae... Daimler's relationship with this company is still very hush-hush. In fact, there's a confidentiality clause still in force that prohibits either company from making this announcement publicly. If you're wondering how I know... well, the facts, confidential as they may be, are available to anybody who knows how to look. All you need is a couple well-phrased Google searches, and you'll see both of the companies in question making announcements at right about the same time, hinting at major new contracts. Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com:....arrived in the French capital on Thursday to meet his French counterpart, Jean-Marc Ayrault. Johnson, a former mayor of London, was given the post in a new cabinet formed by British Prime Minister Theresa May earlier this month, following the resignation of government leader David Cameron. Cameron quit after a majority of UK voters opted in a referendum to leave the European Union. "This first trip to France by the British foreign secretary will offer an opportunity to discuss the most important international issues of the day on which we work closely with the United Kingdom, as well as our bilateral relationship, particularly in the areas of defense, counter-terrorism and border control," a French foreign ministry statement said. After May named Johnson as Britain's top diplomat, Ayrault eschewed the customary diplomatic niceties to ask how a man who had told lies to encourage Britons to vote to quit the EU could be a credible interlocutor. Johnson subsequently said he had received "a charming letter" from Ayrault saying how much he looked forward to working together and to deepening Anglo-French cooperation. When Johnson came to his first EU foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels on 18 July, Ayrault sat expressionless as the Briton chatted animatedly with some counterparts nearby. Ayrault said afterwards that Johnson had not apologized for having compared the EU's goals to those of Hitler and Napoleon during Britain's referendum campaign, although Johnson had "behaved with a certain modesty" at the meeting, he said. Last Thursday, French President François Hollande pressed May to explain an apparent lack of urgency in starting negotiations for Brexit when he met her in Paris. It was May's second trip abroad as prime minister, after meeting German Chancellor Angela Merkel the day before.

Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com:...Air France strike leads to 13 per cent flights cancellation by RFI An Air France desk is seen at Nice Cote D'Azur International airport on the first day of a strike by Air France stewards. REUTERS/Jean-Pierre Amet The week-long strike by Air France flight crews has resulted in the French national carrier cancelling 13 per cent of its flights on Wednesday. The cancellation is expected to get worse as the number of cancelled flights is expected to reach 20 per cent on Thursday. Air France deplored the strike and added it was doing everything to limit inconvenience for passengers with some 20,000 set to be affected across the day. Flights to destinations in Europe, North Africa and Israel will be affected, as well as some routes in Asia and Africa, the company said Monday. Air France estimated that the stoppage would cost it around 40 million euros. A spokesman added that Air France flights operated by low cost flyers HOP! And Transavia, as well as KLM Delta codeshares were not affected by the stoppage. Unions representing around half of the strikers said the stoppage would go ahead as talks failed to bring a breakthrough on renewing an agreement on rules, pay and promotions which expires in October. The management wants to limit the extension of the agreement to 17 months, whereas unions want between three and five years. The CEO of the Air France-KLM group, Jean-Marc Janaillac, managed to put off a second pilots' strike in the month of June during the Euro football tournament. The pilots' last strike, which grounded around 20 percent of flights, was from June 11 to June 14.
Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com:....Listen EUROPEAN UNION FRANCE BREXIT Issued on 27-07-2016 • Modified 27-07-2016 to 12:28 French politician Michel Barnier to lead Brexit talks by RFI Former EU commissioner Michel Barnier will lead the negotiations with Britain after its exit from the EU bloc. REUTERS/Francois Lenoir Former EU commissioner and veteran French politician Michel Barnier has appointed to lead the negotiations with Britain on its exit from the European Union bloc. This was announced by European Commission head Jean-Claude Juncker on Wednesday. “I am very glad that my friend Michel Barnier accepted this important and challenging task. I wanted an experienced politician for this difficult job,” Juncker said in a statement. “I am sure that he will live up to this new challenge and help us to develop a new partnership with the United Kingdom,” he said. Britain became the first country to leave the EU following its June 23 vote to quit the 28-nation bloc. Following the shock result, France and the European Commission have led demands that negotiations of Britain’s exit should begin as soon as possible. Barnier held the key financial services portfolio from 2010 to 2014, spearheading efforts to tame the eurozone debt crisis which nearly brought down the single currency project and put the banking system back on track. He was also a key architect of the EU's new banking union, whose creation often put him at loggerheads with the City of London. He previously served as EU commissioner for regional policy and had stints as both French foreign and agriculture minister. Barnier tweeted he was “honoured” by the appointment, which he will take up on October 1. New British Prime Minister Theresa May has said London will not be rushed into launching talks and mostly likely will begin the negotiations early next year.
Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com: French priest’s murder brings condemnation, raises questions on how to respond by Mike Woods The representatives of France's religious communities stand together after meeting President François Hollande at the Elysée Palace in Paris on Wednesday.. REUTERS/Benoit Tessier French President François Hollande met with top representatives of Christian, Muslim and other religious communities on Wednesday to stress interfaith dialogue following Tuesday’s jihadist-inspired murder of a Catholic priest. The attack, claimed by the Islamic State (IS) armed group, has raised questions about responding to attempts to spark conflict on religious lines. France’s Catholic community has reacted with to Tuesday’s attack – in which two men stormed into a church in the town of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray in Normandy during mass and slit the throat of Father Jacques Hamel – by describing an overwhelming sense of shock. “I didn’t know it was dangerous to be a priest in our century, in France today,” said Father Pierre Amar of the diocese of Versailles near Paris. “I’m not scared, but it’s a new step in our life. A French priest has to recognise today that the danger of being a priest is an element of his life. Yesterday it was not the case. Our Christian brothers in the Middle East know that, every day. For us, it’s the first day.” French religious leaders stand together Speaking after talks with President François Hollande, the leaders of Christian, Muslim and other religions stood together to condemn the attack. André Vingt-Trois, the archbishop of Paris, called on Catholics to “overcome hatred” and not to “enter the game” of the Islamic State, which he said “wants to set children of the same family upon each other.” Dalil Boubakeur, the head of the Great Mosque in Paris, called the attack “blasphemous” and said it went “against all the teachings” of Islam. They’ve also called to carry on dialogue between religions, which Father Amar says is already part of religious life in his city. “After the attack, I received a message from the Muslim rector in my city, which was welcome, but he was also at my first mass as a parish priest when I arrived last year. So we have those kind of relations,” says Father Amar. “So I’m not scared about the relations. We have had them, and we will have them in the future.” Limits of interfaith dialogue Some observers say responding to the attack in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray is not merely a matter of religions maintaining relations, but of recognising the political aims of such attacks. “They [the IS] think fear will bring Western populations to not have any more confidence in their political regimes,” says Jean Maher, secretary general of the Coordination of Eastern Christians in Danger, who has worked with threatened Christians in Syria and Iraq. “They think that more and more small attacks like this one, along with keeping up fear in Western countries, is in their own interest in the long term.” Maher believes that more important than interfaith dialogue is to consider how the IS uses its violent ideology to continue provoking deadly attacks. “The people who are carrying out the attacks – the suicide bombers, the killers – are real victims of the ideology of the other people who inciting them to do it,” he says. “Unless [those fighting the IS] go with a new strategy on how to attack the people who are making and expanding this ideology of hate, they are going to have more attackers, suicide bombers and killers.”

Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com: 17:53 Aids advances under threat in sub-Saharan Africa by Clea Broadhurst Activists marched through the city to the International AIDS Conference in Durban, South Africa, July 18, 2016 Reuters Every year some 2.5 million people are infected with HIV, even as drugs have cut the death rate and virus-carriers live longer than ever, according to a global Aids study issued on Tuesday. But the latest figures show an increase of the virus in some countries, as international funding for research and treatment falls. Aids advances under threat in sub-Saharan Africa 19/07/2016 - by Clea Broadhurst Listen Although 17 million people worldwide follow a treatment that keeps the virus at bay, there remains 36.7 million still living with HIV, meaning that fewer than half of those who need the drugs are getting them. "South Africa is at the epicentre of the HIV epidemic," Deenan Pillay, the Director of the Africa Centre for Population Health, told RFI. "It is the country which has the most cases of HIV, it is the country which uses the highest amount of antiretroviral treatments for HIV. Yet infections keep going up. In our particular area where we work, in the province of Kwazulu Natal, a 15 year-old girl today, who is not infected has herself an 80 percent chance of becoming infected during her lifetime." In antenatal clinics, where pregnant women go first, nearly 50 percent of women are infected with HIV. Pillay said it is essential that HIV remains very high on governments' agendas, especially in South Africa. Prevention is key Whether it is the funding, the research or the cost of treatment, there are different kinds of challenges ahead. Despite progress, scientists all agree this is far from the end of the fight against HIV/Aids. "One of the big focuses is on insuring that everybody has access to treatment, everybody has access to prevention, everybody has access to care," says Debbie Mathew of Aids Foundation of South Africa, an NGO working on health and community development. "We still have lots of people who are still getting infected every day, so we need to improve our prevention efforts, particularly prevention amongst young women and girls." Stigma is a major problem, she argues. "When treatment is available, when it is paid for by the government, paid for by the state, why are people not coming forward for testing? And why aren't people coming forward in initiating treatment? Because they're afraid, afraid of being seen at the clinic or being disclosed as HIV positive. That needs to change." Challenges ahead The answer to HIV prevention and treatment for Aids is not exclusively medical. Some people are more vulnerable because of their social situation, an important factor to take into account, not only in Africa but pretty much everywhere in the world. "We have what we call key populations, where we know infection rates are very high - men who have sex with men, sex workers, persons who inject drugs, transgender people, people who are in prison. We know that migrants and mobile populations are always very vulnerable. So we have to specifically see how we can avoid transmission in these populations," Gottfried Hirnschall, the head of the World Health Organisation's HIV department, told RFI. "We do see that key populations, in general, do not get the attention that they need to get, we do see that, even in 2016, stigma, discrimination, exclusion in many parts of the world continue to prevail. That's very concerning. We know that there are legal frameworks that criminalise these populations, the behaviour of these populations and that's obviously very difficult because we know that this is deterrent for them for seeking care and accessing the prevention treatment services." Hirnschall said stigma was still very much a problem today. "We are standing at a crossroads and the world needs to continue showing interest to bring about a global response and that also includes raising awareness about the virus," he concluded.

welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com: Bill Gates Co-chair, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation My Message To The Next Generation Of Africans July 18, 2016 • 4153 Likes • 352 Comments I was 9 years old when Nelson Mandela was sent to prison on Robben Island. As a boy, I learned about him in school, and I remember seeing reports about the anti-Apartheid movement on the evening news. Decades later, I got to meet him and work with him. In person he was even more inspiring than I had imagined. His humility and courage left an impression that I will never forget. So it was a special honor to be invited to give the Nelson Mandela Lecture in Pretoria, South Africa. I eagerly accepted the invitation and quickly began working on my remarks. I decided to share my optimism about Africa’s future—to explain why I think the continent has the potential to change faster in the next generation than any continent ever has. It’s because Africa is the world’s youngest continent, and youth can go hand in hand with a special dynamism. I was 20 years old when Paul Allen and I started Microsoft. The entrepreneurs driving startup booms in Johannesburg, Lagos, and Nairobi are just as young, and the thousands of businesses they’re creating are already changing lives across the continent. The potential will only grow as the digital revolution brings more advances in artificial intelligence and robotics. But positive change across Africa won’t happen automatically. The real returns will come only if Africans can unleash this talent for innovation in all of the continent’s growing population. That depends on whether all of its young people are given the opportunity to thrive. It is still an open question, and it is the crux of my speech, which I gave today at the University of Pretoria. It was an honor to give this lecture, and I’m grateful to the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the university for inviting me. The first time I spoke with Nelson Mandela was in 1994, when he called to ask me to help fund South Africa’s first multi-racial election. It’s not every day that Nelson Mandela calls, so I remember it well. I was running Microsoft at the time and thinking about software most of my waking hours. But I admired Nelson Mandela, I knew the election was historic, and I did what I could to help. I had been to Africa for the first time just the year before, when my wife, Melinda, and I travelled in East Africa on vacation. Obviously, we knew parts of Africa were very poor, but being on the continent turned what had been an abstraction into an injustice we could not ignore. Faced with such glaring inequity, we started thinking about how we could use our resources to make a difference. Within a few years, we established our foundation. It was when I started coming to Africa regularly for the foundation that I came to know Nelson Mandela personally. He was both an advisor and an inspiration. One topic that Nelson Mandela came back to over and over again in his lifetime was the power of youth. I agree with Mandela about young people, and that is one reason I’m optimistic about the future of Africa. Demographically, Africa is the world’s youngest continent, and its youth can be the source of a special dynamism. Economists talk about the demographic dividend and the potential for Africa’s burgeoning youth population to accelerate economic growth. But for me, the most important thing about young people is the way their minds work. Young people are better than old people at driving innovation, because they are not locked in by the limits of the past. I was 19 when I founded Microsoft. Steve Jobs was 21 when he started Apple. Mark Zuckerberg was 19 when he created Facebook. So I’m inspired by the young African entrepreneurs driving startup booms in the Silicon Savannahs from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Lagos and Nairobi. The real returns, though, will come if we can multiply this talent for innovation by the whole of Africa’s growing youth population. To make that a reality, all of Africa’s young people must have the opportunity to thrive. If we invest in the right things—if we make sure the basic needs of Africa’s young people are taken care of—then they can change the future and life on this continent will improve faster than it ever has. In my view, there are four things that will determine Africa’s future: health and nutrition, education, economic opportunity, and good governance. When people aren’t healthy, they can’t turn their attention to things like education, working and raising a family. Conversely, when health improves, life improves by every measure. I’m especially concerned about HIV. Africa’s youngest generation are entering the age when they are most at risk of HIV. We need to get more out of the HIV prevention methods we have now –while developing better solutions like an effective vaccine and easier-to-use medicines that people are more likely to use consistently. Nutrition is another critical area of focus for Africa. Malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies rob millions of the continent’s children of their physical and cognitive potential. Fortunately, there are cost-effective solutions like making sure mothers breastfeed their infants, enriching cooking oil, sugar, and flour with important vitamins and minerals, and breeding staple crops to maximize their nutritional content. We need to make sure the people most at risk know about and have access to these solutions. Second, we need new thinking and new tools to make sure a high-quality education is available to every child. Educational technology using mobile phones has the potential to help students build foundational skills while giving teachers better feedback and support at the touch of a button. Governments also need to invest in high-quality public universities for the largest number of qualified students to launch the next generation of scientists, entrepreneurs, educators, and government leaders. Third, we need to create economic opportunities to channel the energy and ideas of Africa’s youth. Through the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program, countries have a framework for transforming agriculture from a struggle for survival into a thriving business opportunity. But the investment needs to follow, so that young Africans have the means to create the thriving agriculture they envision. Africa also needs more electrical power to increase productivity. In East Africa especially, governments should invest in hydro and geothermal sources of energy, which are both reliable and renewable, as soon as possible. The immediate priority is for governments to get tougher about managing their electrical grids so they’re producing as much power as possible. Fourth, countries can benefit from enhancing fiscal governance. Advances in digital technology is one way that governments can deliver services more efficiently. It’s clear to everyone how big and complicated the challenges are. But Africa has proven its resilience and ingenuity time and again, and there are millions of people, especially young people, who are eager to get to work. The future depends on the people of Africa working together to lay a foundation so that Africa’s young people have the opportunities they deserve. This is the future that Nelson Mandela dreamed of and it’s the future that the youth of Africa deserve. You can read my full speech on my blog. Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.comm: Will Scottish referendum encourage Africa's separatists? By Farouk Chothia BBC Africa 17 September 2014 From the section Africa Share Image copyrightAFP Many African countries have secessionist movements, partly because their borders were drawn up by colonial powers in the 19th Century. Will the Scottish referendum lead to a greater push for independence on the continent? In one of the few referendums on sovereignty to be held in Africa, in 1961, the people of the British colony of Southern Cameroon voted to join the French territory of Cameroun, while the separate territory of Northern Cameroon opted to join Nigeria. More than half a century later, some English-speaking Cameroonians want independence, saying they face discrimination by the French-speaking majority. "The conspiracy between the UK and France denied us the option of independence. Now, the British are being haunted here," independence campaigner Ebenezer Akwanga told the BBC. 'Enemy of your enemy' "They are all Anglo-Saxon, but the Scottish are having their own referendum with an in/out option. Why can't we?" But analysts say there is unlikely to be a "domino effect" of independence referendums across Africa. "The international community has no appetite to rearrange boundaries. It will be an endless process," says Paulo Gorjao, director of the Portuguese Institute for International Relations and Security. Mr Gorjao argues that Africa's myriad secessionist movements are weaker now then during the Cold War, when they relied heavily on the support of either Western powers or the former Soviet bloc. Image caption The Polisario Front's demand for independence is rejected by Morocco "Now, none of the major players support a faction against the government," Mr Gorjao told the BBC. Expressing a similar view, Berny Sebe, a lecturer in colonial and post-colonial studies at the University of Birmingham in the UK, says the Polisario Front (PF) is a good example of a movement which has suffered as a result of the new international dynamics. At the scene: Peter Musembi, BBC Africa, Glasgow Africans make up a paltry 0.6% of Scotland's 5.3 million-strong population. But as the referendum is a tight race, their vote - along with that of other minorities - could influence the outcome. Many Africans are as passionate about the referendum as the native Scottish. On Monday, a pro-independence rally was held in Glasgow's Calabash restaurant, a popular hang-out among Africans. My impression is that many Africans will vote for independence. They believe Scotland has more favourable policies towards immigrants - for instance, a student can stay here longer than in England after graduating. They also draw parallels with Africa, arguing that just as British rule ended there in the 1960s, it has to end in Scotland. But others disagree, saying that "petty nationalism" lies at the heart of the campaign for Scottish independence. They believe it will set a dangerous precedent, and encourage separatist groups in Africa to step up their campaigns for independence. They also argue that being part of the UK benefits them economically as they can go to England to look for jobs - something that may become difficult if Scotland splits from the rest of the country. The PF received strong Algerian and Soviet support in its campaign to press Morocco to give the Saharawi people their own homeland, while Morocco was backed by the US and France as it resisted their demands. "Geo-politics in the region has changed. With the end of the Cold War, it is no longer critical to support the enemy of your enemy," Mr Sebe told the BBC. 'Pandora's box' While in Angola, the end of the civil war between the MPLA government and the Unita rebel group led to a decline in support for the Flec movement, which has been fighting for three decades for the independence of oil-rich Cabinda, which is physically separate from the rest Angola, Mr Gorjao says. "People realise it's a lost cause. Everyone is benefiting from the stability of the last 10 years. People are living better, despite the corruption," he adds. Image caption Demands for the creation of Biafra state are still heard in south-east Nigeria As African countries emerged from colonial empires, the Organisation of African Union (OAU), now the African Union (AU), agreed in 1963 to accept the existing boundaries in order to avoid border wars between newly independent states. "This has been mostly respected and even when there were territorial disputes, they often stemmed from conflicting arrangements between rival colonial powers, like the conflict between Libya and Chad in the 1970s and 1980s," Mr Sebe says. Mr Gorjao says referendums to change colonial boundaries have been the exception rather than the rule in Africa, and he does not expect any to be held in the foreseeable future. "It doesn't make sense to hold referendums. It will open a Pandora's box," he says. 'Messy divorces' Only two internationally recognised states have emerged in post-independent Africa - Eritrea, which voted to break away from Ethiopia in 1993 and South Sudan, which split from Sudan in 2011 after a referendum backed by the United Nations (UN) and AU. In both instances, the splits were messy - Eritrea and Ethiopia fought a border war between 1998 and 2000, which left some 70,000 people dead. Image caption The border war between Ethiopia and Eritrea killed some 70,000 people Image caption South Sudan's experience has not encouraged other countries to seek independence Similarly, South Sudan's boundary with Sudan has not yet been clearly demarcated, and both sides have accused the other of cross-border incursions. South Sudan has also faced internal conflicts - the most serious one the battle between forces loyal to President Salva Kiir and his sacked deputy Riek Machar. The fighting, which broke out in December, has forced nearly two million people to flee their homes. Martin Ewi, an analyst with the South African Institute for Security Studies, says the crisis facing South Sudan may have harmed the cause of independence movements elsewhere on the continent. "I don't think people will want to see new states emerging and heading in that direction," he says. Image caption Many people in the Angolan province of Cabinda are said to be tired of conflict Citing the case of Cameroon, he argues that its secessionist movement is "dying every day". This is because ethnic affiliations cut across internal boundaries and are stronger than "Anglophone or Francophone nationalism", says Mr Ewi, who is a Cameroonian. 'Repressive' Furthermore, President Paul Biya's government has made efforts to address the grievances of English-speaking Cameroonians, Mr Ewi argues. "Having travelled around the country, I don't see a fundamental difference in development [between former British and French-controlled areas]," Mr Ewi told the BBC. "When it comes to education, there were only French-speaking universities in the past but that argument no longer holds. Today, we have English-speaking universities," he adds. Image caption Critics accuse the Cameroonian military of cracking down on dissent Image caption The emergence of militant Islamist groups has raised concerns about creating new states However, Mr Akwanga, who seeks independence for English-speaking Cameroon, disagrees. He argues that as many African governments are repressive, only international pressure will force them to hold referendums. "In Paul Biya's Cameroon, no party similar to the SNP will be allowed to win an election," Mr Akwanga says. On the other side of the continent, some residents of the Indian Ocean island of Zanzibar are following the Scottish referendum, hoping for something similar to determine its relationship with mainland Tanzania, says the BBC Aboubakar Famau, who is on the island. Image caption People in Zanzibar are hoping that their relationship with the mainland will be reviewed Once a British protectorate, Zanzibar became part of Tanganyika in 1964, forming the United Republic of Tanzania. Although it is already a semi-autonomous territory with its own parliament and president, many people in Zanzibar believe it gets a raw deal and are pushing for more powers or outright independence. The Tanzanian government has agreed to review the constitution in an attempt to address their grievances. Scotland: Road to referendum Kingdom of Scotland emerges as sovereign independent state in early Middle Ages Its monarch James VI becomes king of England and Ireland in 1603 Forms political union with England in 1707 to create Kingdom of Great Britain Powers devolved to Scottish parliament after 1997 referendum Pro-independence Scottish National Party wins overall majority in 2011 election Opens way for 18 September referendum In Nigeria, the military brutally crushed efforts to create the breakaway state of Biafra in the south-east in 1967, seven years after Nigeria won its independence from Britain. Some 50 years later, "secessionist demands are never too far from the surface" in Africa's most populous state, which is heavily divided along ethnic and religious lines, says Mannir Dan Ali, editor of Nigeria's Daily Trust newspaper. "Currently, all the regions are suspicious of the real intention of the other," he told the BBC. 'Artificial country' "However, at sober moments, most people agree that Nigerians need each other and it is only in one Nigeria that you will have the numbers and the variety of resources to become an important country that could satisfy the yearnings of more if its citizens." Mr Sebe argues that the emergence of militant Islamist groups like Nigeria's Boko Haram reduces the chances of foreign powers supporting the creation of potentially failed or shaky states where jihadis could operate freely. "Nigeria is an artificial country formed as a result of British imperial activity. There is a distinct possibility of more devolution, but I don't see its unity under threat in the current circumstances," he told the BBC. Image caption Libya has been anarchic since the 2011 revolution He says in Africa, Libya faces the biggest threat of disintegrating as rival militias battle for power following the overthrow of long-serving ruler Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. "Unfortunately, it is quite similar to Somalia in the 1990s, where the world witnessed the gradual decomposition of the state," Mr Sebe says. Since long-server ruler Siad Barre was overthrown in 1991, several self-governing territories have emerged from Somalia, but none are internationally recognised. No effective central government exists in Libya either, with militias, split along ideological, regional and ethnic lines, fighting for territorial control. In the east, regional leaders declared autonomy, calling the area Cyrenaica - a name which harks back to the 1950s when Libya's regions enjoyed federal power. Mr Sebe says the resolution of the conflict in Libya will require the concerted effort of Western and Arab states, but their attention is currently focused on Iraq and Syria, raising the risk that its disintegration will continue. But overall, most African states are more stable and democratic now - and there are stronger links between different ethnic groups - than in the period immediately after independence, analysts say. This is another reason why we are unlikely to see more African countries breaking apart in the near future. Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com: Editor’s note: In the last of a three part series on the BBC’s bias against the concept of Biafra, Herbert Ikwe-Ikwe argues that the corporation is continuing to further British interests in Nigeria by supporting the suppression of pro-Briafa protests. The very key BBC “secessionist” tag on Biafran independence was invoked by the Nigerian regime on 2 December 2015 after a news item aptly carried by the BBC on its website, before the regime ordered its forces to attack peaceful Biafran freedom demonstrators in Onicha. The BBC has still not found it fit to broadcast the predictable outcome of this Onicha attack to the world, in other words inform the world of the aftermath of the Nigerian regime’s blatant militarist threat to peaceful demonstrators. READ First Part: Read Why The BBC Is Allegedly Biased Against Biafra However, the following excerpts from the detailed report on what has since turned out as the Onicha massacre from the respected Lagos-based Civil Liberties Organisation is of utmost urgency: “A contingent of the heavily armed joint task force, consisting of personnel from the army, navy, police and security and civil defence force, on 2 December 2015, attacked thousands of unarmed members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group seeking a separate republic to be called Biafra. “The joint task force stormed the head bridge at 01:30 last Wednesday and began shooting sporadically into the crowd, killing 11 protesters and injuring numerous more. “This is a case of gross violation of human rights, use of excessive force and a crime against humanity. “This barbaric act has no place in a modern society as it also gravely undermines all UN, AU and other international, regional and national human rights mechanisms. Nothing whatsoever can justify this flagrant infraction on the rights of the citizens.” Does British bias against Igbos stretch back decades? Once again, if anyone needs reminding that Nigeria has been, for the Igbo, a haematophagous quagmire throughout its history, and the saliency of this latest massacre cannot be overstressed. In June 1945 and May 1953, right under the very watch of the British occupation, the Hausa-Fulani north region allies of the conquest, opposed to the Igbo-led African restoration-of-independence campaign, carried out carefully planned pogroms against Igbo migrant populations in Jos and Kano. Hundreds of Igbo were murdered in these outrages. The occupation charged no one for these crimes and the pogroms became dress-rehearsals for the May 1966-January 1970 genocide. Since the beginning of phase-IV of the genocide, 13 January 1970, tens of thousands of Igbo have been murdered across Nigeria but especially in the northern region including those slaughtered by the Boko Haram terrorists. READ Second Part: Did BBC Bias Lead To Igbo Deaths In Civil War? Wednesday, December 2, 2015, has now become a graphically unnerving day of tragedy across two continents. In north America, an Islamist terrorist couple, husband and wife, embarked on the premeditated massacre of 14 peaceful citizens in San Bernardino, California, United States. In Africa, a terrorist Nigerian military brigade, assembled from specialised detachments of navy, army, police, secret police, and other undisclosed units, embarked on the premeditated massacre of 11 peaceful citizens in Onicha, Biafra, a number of them college students. The BBC has carried out expansive and continuing coverage of the San Bernardino massacre; the BBC has yet to cover the Onicha massacre in its broadcasts. Few now doubt the BBC’s doggedly entrenched position as a principal motivational ally in Nigeria’s prosecution of the Igbo genocide, presently humanity’s longest stretched genocide. An unprecedented wave of protests Biafrans will surely free their land. It is high time BBC editors got used to this eventuality. Since Friday, November 6, 2015, 33 days, hundreds of thousands of peaceful Biafrans have turned their cities and towns and villages into panoramic freedom park marches, unprecedented in Africa, demanding the restoration of the sovereignty of their beloved Biafra and insisting on the release of freedom broadcaster Nnamdi Kanu, illegally detained by the Nigeria regime. Biafrans are redefining the dynamics of the march for freedom in Africa. Biafra will be free. Nigeria, this essentially anti-African imperium created to programmatically enrich British strategic interests in perpetuity is, in fact, in freefall with its epitaph already signposting its dreadful history: Haematophagous Monster. Lest we forget: Those who lead this current phase of resistance to the Igbo genocide were the babies and children-survivors of the July 1967-January 1970 refugee death camps of Biafra. READ ALSO: Boko Haram Kills 1500 In Six Months These great survivors, who have now come of age, will free Biafra. The crime of genocide, thankfully, has no statute of limitations in international law. No other African peoples have suffered such an extensive and gruesome genocide and incalculable impoverishment in a century as the Igbo. All individuals and institutions involved in committing this crime, wherever they are or emplaced, will one day account for their role in court. In the meantime, the BBC will much sooner than later begin to come to terms with the fact that “what’s good” in the universal right of self-determination for those who live between latitudes 55 and 65˚N of the globe, for instance the Scots, “is good” for those who live between latitudes 4 and 14˚N, for instance, Biafrans. Welcome to. mjventertainment.blogspot.com: y as France goes to the polls next year. More than 200 vehicles are taking part, while 55 planes and 30 helicopters are scheduled to fly overhead. There is also 236 horses, and 36 dogs taking part in the parade. Eight jets from the Patrouille de France aerobatics team will form the shape of the Eiffel Tower to promote Paris's bid to host the 2024 Olympic Games. Some 11 500 police officers and gendarmes have also been deplyed for security reasons and to managed the massive crowd on Paris’ Champs Elysees and Place de la Concorde. US Secretary of State John Kerry is also among the foreign guests, alongside New Zealand Prime Minister John Key. The presence of Australian and Kiwi troops in the display of military pomp and splendour is just the latest in a series of commemorations for the battle. Britain's royal family attended a ceremony at the Somme battlefield on July 1 to remember the one million who were left dead, injured or missing in the 141-day battle. South African President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday inaugurated a new memorial wall to honour both black and white soldiers from his country at the site of the Battle of Delville Wood where some 3,000 fell in July 1916. The battle was part of the fighting in the Somme. The French government say Australia's invitation as this year's guest of honour for the July 14 celebrations underlines the healthy state of relations between the two countries. France was chosen to build Australia's submarine fleet in a contract worth €34 billion ($37.6 billion). With France still on high alert for terror attacks, the parade will take place under heavy security. The demands on the French military have risen sharply since the jihadists struck Paris in two sets of attacks last year, killing a total of 147 people. An increase in recruits for the military as a result of the attacks will be reflected in the participation of officer training schools in the parade.

Welcome to mjventertant.blogspot.com: 16-07-2016 to 15:23 Islamic State armed group claims responsibility for Nice attack by RFI A woman places a bouquet of flowers near French flags placed in tribute to victims of the attack in Nice. REUTERS/Pascal Rossignol The Islamic State armed group claimed responsibility on Saturday for the attack in the Southern French city of Nice in which a Tunisian drove a truck through a crowd killing 84. In a statement via its Amaq news service the IS armed group said one of its “soldiers” carried out the attack on Thursday night “in response to calls to target nations of coalition states that are fighting (IS)”. Tunisian Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel ploughed a 19-tonne truck into crowd of people in the Riviera city who were celebrating Bastille Day – France’s national day. At least 10 children and teenagers were among the dead as well as tourists from the United States, Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland and Germany. French President Francois Hollande met with his defence and security chiefs and cabinet ministers as criticism from the opposition and media mounted over security failings after the third major attack in France in 18 months. A French parliamentary inquiry last week criticised numerous failings by the intelligence services over the Paris attacks. “We know of course that there are still flaws and shortcomings,” Hollande said. “Government intervention is imperative in that area in order to better coordinate our intelligence services,” he added. Presidential contender and former Prime Minister Alain Juppe said on Friday that the latest carnage could have been prevented if “all measures” had been taken. But government spokesman Stephane Le Foll slammed Juppe's comments, saying there was as much security present for the fireworks display as there had been for the Euro 2016 football tournament in the city. He said there were more than 185 police, gendarmes and soldiers on the ground, as well as municipal police and a vast network of surveillance cameras. “Despite all of that, this man's decisions... created the drama and horror we experienced,” he said. Hollande said the country would observe three days of mourning as he warned the death toll could rise further, with more than 50 people still fighting for their lives. Meanwhile, four people linked to Lahouaiej-Bouhlel have been arrested. The driver's estranged wife is also being held by police. Attacker radicalised very quickly, says Cazeneuve French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said on Saturday that the man responsible for the attack in Nice in which 84 people died seemed to have been "radicalised very quickly". He said that Thursday's massacre was "a new type of attack" which "showed the extreme difficulty of the fight against terrorism". He also confirmed that Tunisian-born Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel "had not been known to the intelligence services". - with AFP i

Who are the victims? A local hospital official said that at least two children were among the dead and around 50 had been admitted to hospital, some of whom were fighting for their lives. Two of the dead were American citizens, a state department spokesman said. He also called up army reservists to bolster the country's security services that are stretched to the limit. National mourning Prime Minister Manuel Valls also announced three days of national mourning from Saturday 16 July. The attack is the third major strike against France in less than 18 months and prosecutors said anti-terrorist investigators would handle the probe. Jihadists have repeatedly singled out France as a prime target for its military actions in Iraq and Syria. Eiffel Tower to be lit in French tricolour The Eiffel Tower will be lit in France's national colours from Friday in tribute to the victims of the Nice truck attack, Paris city hall said. “The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, has decided to illuminate the Eiffel Tower in red, white and blue tonight and during the (three-day) period of national mourning,” it said in a statement, adding that the illumination would start each night at 10.30pm. French Prime Minister Manuel Valls earlier said flags would be flown at half-mast from Friday, and three days of national mourning would begin on Saturday. He also said the government intended to extend the state of emergency, which has been in place since the November 13 terror attacks on Paris, until October. The National Assembly, France's lower house of parliament, said that it too will also be lit in the national colours. ‘Suspect unknown to intelligence services’ The man who rammed a truck into a crowd at a Bastille Day fireworks display in Nice, killing 84, was "totally unknown" to intelligence services, a top French prosecutor said Friday. Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel was "totally unknown to intelligence services... and was never flagged for signs of radicalisation," said anti-terrorism prosecutor Francois Molins. He also said that the attack was in line with jihadist calls to action. Visit France to defy terrorists, says UN tourism boss The UN tourism chief on Friday urged holiday makers to express solidarity with France by visiting the country to defy “terrorists”. The World Tourism Organisation's Secretary-General Taleb Refai made the call after the deadly Bastille Day assault that left dozens dead, including children, and injured scores of others. “This is the time to go visit France,” Refai told reporters in Sri Lanka. - with AFP

Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com: 15-07-2016 to 07:47 84 dead in truck attack in Nice by RFI French police forces and forensic officers stand next to a truck that ran into a crowd in Nice killing at least 80 people. REUTERS/Eric Gaillard A 19-tonne truck ploughed into a crowd of revellers watching Bastille Day fireworks display in the French resort of Nice killing 84 people while 18 were seriously injured. Christian Estrosi, head of the local region, said the driver had fired a pistol several times before being shot dead by police. This was after he drove the truck two kilometres through the crowd on the Promenade des Anglais before he was shot dead. Authorities said they found identity papers belonging to a 31-year-old French-Tunisian citizen in the truck, as well as "guns" and "larger weapons". President François Hollande termed the attack of an "undeniable terrorist nature," confirming that "several children" were among the dead. “France was struck on its national day ... the symbol of freedom,” Hollande said. A photograph showed the front of the truck riddled with bullet holes and badly damaged, with burst tyres. Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve told reporters on the scene that the death toll stood at 80, with scores injured including 18 in "critical condition". The attack is the third major strike against France in less than 18 months and prosecutors said anti-terrorist investigators would handle the probe. It comes eight months after Islamic State attacks on Paris nightspots left 130 people dead, dealing a hard blow to tourism in one of the world's top destinations. Hollande announced he would extend France's state of emergency for three months in the wake of this latest attack and “step up” the government's action against jihadists in Syria and Iraq. He also called up army reservists to bolster the country's security services that are stretched to the limit. France has been under a state of emergency ever since the November 13 Paris carnage, which came after 17 were killed in another attack in January at various sites including the offices of the Charlie Hebdo magazine and a Jewish supermarket. The Islamic State group has repeatedly singled out France as a prime target for its military actions against the group in Iraq and Syria, and hundreds of jihadists have left France to go and fight in its ranks.

Facebook Twitter WhatsApp Email – Three weeks after Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state made a revelation on Aisha Buhari’s alleged involvement in the Halliburton scandal, the US has finally made a statement – The US reply to questions on Aisha’s involvement may have now put to rest the heat that followed the revelation from the governor which rattled the presidency The United States government has replied Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state declaring that it has no records of crimes against Aisha, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari. Fayose versus Aisha Buhari The country also said the president’s wife is not wanted in the US. The Ekiti state governor, on Monday June 20, distributed a link to the US Department of Justice’s website holding court documents where Aisha Buhari was alleged to have transferred suspicious funds to a convicted former American congressman, Williams Jefferson. Punch is reporting that the acting public affairs officer of the US Consulate General, Lagos, Frank Sellin, said this in an email reply to inquiries on the true state of Fayose’s allegation. Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi told the Mehr and Fars news agencies that Iranian officials have "reached a general understanding with the French side for joint cooperation" on the project, which is based in the south of France. The organisation's boss, Ali Akbar Salehi, visited Iter's headquarters near Aix-en-Provence at the end of June, the agencies said. He was one of the key negotiators in the nuclear deal, which lifted sanctions in exchange for Iran's agreement to curb its nuclear programme in the light of fears that it might build nuclear weapons. The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, whose sponsors include China, the European Union, India, Japan, Russia and the US, was launched in 1985 to develop the creation of nuclear power by fusion, a method that is considered potentially safer in both its production process and its waste than the currently used fission process.

mjvhood;mjventertainment.blogspot..com: POLITICS Senators at war: Buhari to be impeached? Yesterday SHARE THIS NEWS! Facebook Twitter WhatsApp Email – Senators are reportedly planning to impeach President Buhari over Senate forgery allegations – Dino Melaye was also said to have used harsh words on Senator Tinubu, while also threatening to beat her up – Pro-Saraki senators are also planning to attack senators loyal to the cause of the AGF against the Senate President Muhammadu Buhari has been threatened with impeachment by Nigerian senators, Sahara Reporters has informed. This much happened during the plenary session on Tuesday, July 12, with the senators making their threats about the president known over the Senate forgery allegations scandal. It was also gathered that Senator Dino Melaye threatened to ‘impregnate’ Remi Tinubu, wife of the Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Their anger stems from the proposed trial of the Senate leadership over forgery, a case for which Senate president, Bukola Saraki; his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, and other officers were recently charged to court. Some senators were said to have called on their colleagues, led by Senators Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi (APC Kaduna North) and Kabir Marafa (APC Zamfara Central) to sheathe their sword and withdraw the petition that had led to the prosecution of Senate leadership. The Saraki-led session had also reminded the Senate that a committee led by his predecessor, David Mark was set up to reunite the members. READ ALSO: Senators who followed Saraki, others to court today (photos) But the Benue-born politician denied ever being a member of any such committee, adding that he had no idea who the members of the committee were as he was just doing his work. Senator Melaye from Kogi state also insisted that Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) be brought before the senators, thoroughly grilled and humiliated because of the allegations he has charged the leadership of the Senate with. The outspoken lawmaker therefore called on his colleagues to fight the presidency and also reportedly issued a lot of threats during the rowdy session and when Senator Tinubu was asked to speak, she said said the Senate should not be reduced to a kindergarten where Senators could just issue childish threats. Reports say after she had appealed to senators to close ranks and seek reconciliation, Melaye got really mad and started calling the former governor’s wife names. READ ALSO: Saraki, Ekweremadu arraigned for forgery He threatened: “I will beat you up on this floor and nothing will happen.” This reaction by Melaye was said to have triggered more commotion on the floor of the house as some senators were said to have rallied around her to protect her while Saraki reportedly continued nodding in acknowledgment while the Kogi senator continued calling the woman names. Sahara Reporters sources informed that Senator Aliyu Wamakko from Sokoto had hosted series of meetings in an alleged plot to impeach the president in a couple of days. Some senators were also reported to have threatened those behind the current forgery trial just as Senator Melaye threatened to kill anybody who testifies against the leadership in court. Meanwhile, reports emerged a few hours after the rowdy session that the AGF was spotted at the complex of the National Assembly. NAIJ.com sources informed that details of the meeting were unknown but feelers have it that the meeting may not be unconnected to the impasse between the presidency and the Nigerian Senate. Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com: Reuters/Khalil Ashawi French President François Hollande has called for international action against the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Nusra Front in Syria, warning that setbacks for the Islamic State (IS) armed group could strengthen other jihadist organisations. "Daesh [an Arabic acronym for IS] is in retreat, that is beyond dispute," Hollande said after a meeting with the leaders of the United States, Germany, Britain, Italy and Ukraine on the sidelines of a Nato summit in Warsaw on Saturday. But, he went on, "we must also avoid a situation whereby as Daesh becomes weaker, other groups become stronger." He singled out the Al-Nusra Front, calling for the US, Russia and other allied forces to launch "effective action" against it. Airstrikes and ground offensives by local forces have meant that IS has lost territory in Syria and Iraq in recent months. On Wednesday US President Barack Obama and Russia's Vladimir Putin agreed in a telephone conversation to increase military coordination between their countries in Syria. In May Washington rejected a Russian proposal for joint airstrikes against armed Islamists in Syria. The White House reported that the two leaders, in their call this week, "confirmed their commitment to defeating ISIL (IS) and the Al-Nusra Front". The two groups are excluded from a broader truce brokered by Moscow and Washington in February. Syrian rebels failed bid to reopen their only supply route into Aleppo city overnight, despite fierce fighting in which at least 29 combatants were killed, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Sunday.

The Nation reports that the money meant for assisting the election of Fayose as the governor. The anti-corruption agency has received a video recording, showing how Obanikoro and his assistants loaded a chartered plane with the money and how they even broke the Lagos airport security gate. READ ALSO: Fayose’s associate, three others grilled by EFCC for 8 hours The billions of naira were transferred through HS125-800 5N-BMT belonging to Gyro Air Limited. The ex-minister paid $25,000 for the air-lifting. The first flight was loaded with N724.5million cash to the extent that there was no seat for any crew member or the former minister. Obanikoro, his aide-de-camp, Lieutenant Colonel A.O Adewale, and crew member joined the second flight Akure Airport with N494.990m on board. Obanikoro, using soldiers, had broken through the security gate at the airport in Lagos to relocate a bullion van to the apron of the chartered wing to off-load the cash. The source, who asked not to be named, said: “Contrary to his attacks on EFCC, we have retrieved the footage and details of how he ordered soldiers to break the barriers at the reserved security gate at Lagos Airport for a bullion van to go to the apron of the chartered service wing. “He defied security men at the airport and refused to subject the bullion van to any screening contrary to aviation rules. In fact, apart from financial crimes, the ex-Minister and his accomplices have outstanding allegations against them for violating aviation safety rules or regulations. “The aircraft made two shuttles to Akure Airport on June 17, 2014. Our investigation revealed that during the first flight, about N724.5million was offloaded from the bullion into the aircraft. The cash occupied all the space to the extent that there was nowhere to sit by the crew and the ex-Minister. READ ALSO: Anger as Fayose’s admits to owning properties of N1.35 billion “But when the balance of N494.990m was loaded into the aircraft for the second trip, Obanikoro, his ADC, one highly-placed person from the South-West, and the crew were able to make the trip. “Let him continue to make noise in the United States instead of coming home to clear his name. We have interacted with the aviation staff on ground on the said date. We have identified the owner of the aircraft to be a member of the sacked management of Skye Bank Plc.” The N1.29billion was part of the money stolen by the former national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki, from the lot meant for the procurement of arms to prosecute the war against Boko Haram. Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com: 80 percent of France's part-time workers are women by Tony Cross French Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron with women workers at a Novo Nordisk plant in Chartres Reuters/Guillaume Souvant/Pool More than 80 percent of France's part-time workers are women, a government study has shown. Nearly a third of women employees work part-time, compared to just 7.0 percent of men, and the proportion is even higher among women with partners, research by the statistical service (Dares) of the French Labour Ministry has found. "Recent years have seen a great increase in part-time working," the Dares study observes. Only eight percent of the French workforce was part-time in 1975, by the middle of the 1980s it had risen to 10 percent and in 2013 it was 19 percent, about the same as the level for the whole European Union, which was 19.4 percent in 2014. The less qualified you are, the less likely you are to have a full-time job but the statistics are even more affected by gender. The overwhelming majority - 81 percent - of France's part-time workers are female, the study found, and 31 percent of women work part-time, slightly lower than the European average of 32.2 percent. But "the level of part-time work among women living as part of a couple is higher than that of women as a whole, for almost all ages and generations". What is more, the longer a woman has had a partner the less likely she is to be in full-time employment. Childcare major factor The situation is "evidence of the specificity of women's employment activity, which links professional and family life, and affects their advance on the labour market", the report comments. Nearly a third of part-time workers would rather be working full-time and this is especially the case among young or less qualified people or those approaching retirement age. But the proportion of women among the 68 percent who have chosen part-time employment, as well as the fact that 45 percent of women workers with three or more children are part-timers, shows that the burden of childcare and housework still falls overwhelmingly on women. "Men more often say they work part-time in order to pursue another professional activity, to study or undergo training or for health reasons," the report says. "While women more often wish to look after their children or another family member." A partner moving for work can also lead to a woman becoming unemployed or finding lower-paid or less suitable employment and part-time employment is higher in rural areas and in the service industries. Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com: Issued on 07-07-2016 • Modified 07-07-2016 to 18:26 French dairy giant Danone to take over US foods company by RFI Emmanuel Faber, Chief Executive Officer of Danone, Gregg Engles, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of WhiteWave Foods Company, and Franck Riboud, Chairman of Danone, pose before the start of a news conference in Paris on July 7, 2016 in Paris. REUTERS/John Schults French dairy giant Danone has agreed to buy US organic foods producer WhiteWave Foods for 11.3 billion euros. Analysts say the decision to buy the Denver-based company for 11.3 billion euros was based on Danone’s ambitions to expand in the American market that has seen a steady increase in the consumption of organic or healthier foods. WhiteWave Foods also produces organic dairy products and plant-based dairy alternatives. Since its stock market flotation in 2012, WhiteWave has generated an annual increase in operating profit of 20 percent. Their sales last year were close to 3.6 billion euros with a net profit of 152 million euros. According to analysts, the deal will help Danone’s sales increase by 18 percent. Danone’s shares got a boost following this announcement going up by 6.8 per cent to stand at more than 67 euros. Stephane Bellon, an agronomist at the French National Institute of Agricultural Research based in Avignon, told RFI that such acquisitions in the organic dairy products sector have the potential of helping farmers. “As far as milk production is concerned, there’s a crisis in France and elsewhere in Europe related to the price farmers are paid. Therefore organic farming appears as an option.” “However, there’s a challenge to meet demand and supply not just for milk but for products derived for milk. After such there is potentially an increase in demand for organic dairy products. This could suit farmers who find it difficult to survive with conventional milk production or want to change their practices, e.g. with higher self-sufficiency,” he said. He added that though it’s an opportunity, it’s a challenge as well. “It’s important to ensure that the production potential and the way they implement organic practices can ensure a guaranteed supply in terms of quality production and ensure the farmers get fair price in the future.”
Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com:07-07-2016 to 11:30 Paris court sentences former Rwandan mayors to life over 1994 genocide by RFI This courtroom sketch made on May 10, 2016 shows Tito Barahira (back, left) and Octavien Ngenzi (back, right), two former Rwandan mayors who were sentenced to life by a Paris court for orchestrating the massacre of hundreds of Tutsis in 1994 BENOIT PEYRUCQ/AFP Two former Rwandan mayors were sentenced to life imprisonment by a Paris court on charges of orchestrating the massacre of hundreds of Tutsis during the 1994 genocide. The court said 58-year-old Octavien Ngenzi and his predecessor, 64-year-old Tito Barahira, were guilty of "crimes against humanity, massive and systematic summary executions and genocide" in the village of Kabarondo, where some 2,000 people seeking refuge in a church were hacked to death. It was the stiffest genocide sentence ever handed out by a French court. In 2014, former army captain Pascal Simbikangwa got 25 years in solitary confinement for genocide and crimes against humanity. The eight-week trial has heard chilling testimony depicting the two men as "supervisors" and "executioners" in the massacre at the height of the genocide in which 800,000 people, mostly ethnic Tutsis, were killed by Hutu extremists. "Ngenzi was the leader," said prosecutor Philippe Courroye, who requested life sentences for the two men. Barahira was the "dreaded machete officer". Both Ngenzi and Barahira denied the charges. Their lawyers have pointed to contradictory testimony 22 years after the killings to argue that reasonable doubt exists over the defendants' role, portraying them as having been helpless to stop the chaos unfolding around them. A lawyer for the civil parties to the case, Gilles Paruelle, told the jury: “To kill one man, hatred is sufficient. To kill 1,000, you need organisation.” Alain Gauthier, whose organisation is one of the civil parties in the case, was jubilant. “The jury has understood the distress of the victims," he said. "We hope that this sentencing signifies that one cannot live with impunity in France.” His wife Dafroza, whose family was wiped out in the genocide, said she was “comforted” but would be "taking up the fight" again to bring other genocide offenders to justice. The violence broke out in Kabarondo a week after the shooting down of a plane carrying Rwanda's president Juvenal Habyarimana, which inflamed ethnic tensions and sparked the genocide. Among those seeking shelter at the church on April 13, 1994, when the genocidal Hutu “Interahamwe” militia attacked, was Marie Mukamunana, who told the court how her seven children and husband were killed by grenades and machetes. “Someone said 'don't waste the bullets' and they continued with machetes,” she said. She recalled seeing former mayor Barahira “armed with a gun, among the Interahamwe” and testified that Ngenzi was “supervising the massacre.” Jean-Damascene Rutagungira – who lost 21 members of his family including his wife and children – told the court he saw the pair encouraging the killers, shouting “cut them down.” The bloodshed in Kabarondo, a town near the border with Tanzania, was over by the end of April, when Tutsi rebels in the armed wing of what is now the ruling Rwandan Patriotic Front (FPR) took control of the area. Elsewhere in the former Belgian colony, the slaughter continued until the FPR fighters finally prevailed in July. Ngenzi and Barahira were sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment by Rwandan people's courts, known as “gacaca”, in 2009. Ngenzi has been in custody since 2010 when he was captured in the French Indian Ocean territory of Mayotte off the east coast of Africa, where he had been living under a false name. Barahira was arrested in 2013 in the southwestern French city of Toulouse where he was living.

Welcome to mjventertainment.blogSpot.com: Issued on 06-07-2016 • Modified 06-07-2016 to 09:59 Belgium court jails terrorists with Paris attacks links by RFI Police vehicles in Verviers, eastern Belgium, on January 16, 2015, a day after the police raid that busted the so-called Verviers terror cell. Valerie Kuypers, AFP A Belgian court on Tuesday jailed four leaders of a terror cell broken up in a deadly raid last year in the eastern town of Verviers. The suspects had been linked to the jihadists who carried out recent terrorist attacks in Paris and Brussels. The four men received jail terms of between eight and 16 years for their role in leading a terror cell affiliated to Islamic State (IS) group that was allegedly planning to kill police officers. Jail terms Marouane El Bali, Souhaib El Abdi et Mohamed Arshad were jailed for 16 years each while Omar Damache was jailed for eight years by the court in Brussels. Judge Pierre Hendrickx said there was evidence that the Verviers cell was planning a gun and bomb attack on Zavantem airport in Brussels of the same type as the one that eventually happened on March 22. Passing sentence on the four men, he pointed to the fact that explosives of the kind used by the IS group and weapons were found in the property, and that some of the men had spent time in Syria. "These elements left no doubt about the fact that the Verviers cell was planning an attack," Hendrickx said. Two suspected members of the group were killed on the January 2015 raid on the house in Verviers, located 120 kilometres (75 miles) east of Brussels near the German border. Both were from Molenbeek, the gritty suburb of Brussels home to several of the jihadists that would go on to carry out attacks in Paris and the Belgian capital. ‘Rough draft’ of Paris attacks Prosecutors described the Verviers cell as the "rough draft" of the terror cell that attacked Paris on November 13, 2015, killing 129 people at several night spots in the French capital. They said Paris attacks ringleader Abdelhamid Abaaoud was central to the Verviers events, giving orders to the would-be assailants by phone from Greece. El Bali, the main suspect at the trial, had been charged with attempted murder for firing at police during the Verviers gunfight on January 15, 2015, which took place just a week after the terrorist attack on French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo. Arshad, meanwhile, told the court he acted on instructions from Abaaoud to buy walkie-talkies, ingredients for explosives and rent two vehicles and a flat in Verviers. The documents were provided by small-time criminal El Abdi. Damache, an Algerian, was arrested at an address in Athens where police believe they had zeroed in on Abaaoud. Damache was later extradited to Belgium. Abaaoud was killed by French police after a lengthy siege in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis, days after the November 13 attacks.

Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com: French PM Valls forces labour law through parliament LFrench Prime Minister Valls in parliament recently AFP France's government invoked special constitutional powers on Tuesday to impose labour legislation that will make it easier to hire and fire staff, overriding street protesters staging their last rally of the summer and rebels within his own party. Prime Minister Manuel Valls' decision was immediately condemned by dissidents in his party who warned they would consider seeking a vote of no confidence in the government less than a year from elections. In response, Valls said it was the only way to beat unemployment. "This country is too used to mass unemployment," Valls told parliament, saying he was acting in the "general interest" of the French people. "It is not posturing, it's not intransigence," he said. He said more than 800 amendments had been added to the legislation after "a quality debate" but that a "coalition of immobility" had stymied the reform drive aimed at reducing unemployment. Union- and student-backed demonstrations against the reforms -- seen as too pro-business and threatening to cherished workers' rights -- began nearly four months ago, with some protests descending into violence. MPs have 24 hours to decide whether to call a vote of no confidence in Valls' government, which the right-wing opposition has already ruled out. It is the second time the government has used the so-called 49-3 provision for this package of reforms because it could not count on the votes of the left flank of the Socialist Party in parliament. An opinion poll published last week found that 73 percent of the French would be "shocked" if the government used the 49-3 provision for the final passage of the reforms. Unemployment in France stands at a stubborn 10 percent overall, but for young people the figure is closer to 25 percent. More than 3.5 million people in mainland France are registered as jobless.

Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com: Military doctor fired over sex with colleague's wife 1 hour ago SHARE THIS NEWS! Facebook Twitter WhatsApp Email – A military doctor has been found guilty of adultery with a colleague’s wife – The doctor was arraigned on a two-count charge of illicit sexual affair – He has been dismissed from the force A military medical doctor has been dismissed by a Nigerian Army court-martial on Wednesday, June 29, for allegedly having a sexual affair with his fellow officer’s wife. Officer of the Nigerian army dismissed for illicit sexual relationship with a fellow’s wife. According to reports, the court slammed a two-count charge of illicit sexual relationship and unprofessional conduct on Lieutenant Musa Mustapha Bature, and accused him of taking advantage of a colleague’s wife who was supposed to be his patient. The court-martial sat at the Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment of the 2 Division, Ojo, Ibadan in Oyo state. The 38-year old officer, whose fate would be finally decided by a military council, which statutorily ratifies such sentences, reportedly confessed to the crime, and pleaded with military authorities to give him corrective punishment rather than a terminal one. Sources familiar with the trial said the accused, a native of Kebbi State, had a notorious history of sexual indiscipline in his four years of service. His conduct was recently brought to the attention of the army authority. The doctor’s offence, namely indecent professional misconduct and having sex with a fellow soldier’s wife, contravene Sections 79 and 93 of the Armed Forces Act CAP A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. The law prescribes jail term and dismissal from service with dishonour. Delivering his judgement, the President of the Court Martial, Brigadier General Raji, who is also the Commander of 52 Division Signals, said the court opted for a lesser sentence of dismissing the doctor because the convict was a young officer who got commissioned into the Nigeria Army only in 2012. He said in his sentence: “Given the level of treachery and the betrayal of trust you displayed by having sexual relation with your colleague’s wife, the court is tempted to award you a maximum sentence of five years in prison. The Court has however looked that you were only commissioned to the Nigerian Army in 2012, you may therefore not be well grounded in the traditions of the Nigerian Army. Ignorance, however, does not excuse your despicable behaviour. So therefore, the court sentences you as follows:- “On Count 1, dismissal with disgrace and dishonour. On Count 2, dismissal from the armed forces. “Note that these sentences are subject to confirmation by the Army Council and the sentences are to run concurrently.” According to revelations made during the court-martial, the officer’s last sexual escapade involved the wife of a fellow officer whom he took advantage of when she visited his clinic for consultation on a gynaecological case. Officials said after seeing the newly-married woman from Yobe state, whose identity they asked should be protected, the doctor insisted on conducting a more detailed examination of her. Our sources say the young doctor disregarded prescribed medical ethics requiring that such examination be carried out in the presence of a chaperon. The officer’s wife served as one of the prosecution witnesses in the case. In her testimony, the woman gave a detailed account of how the doctor sexually stimulated her before they had sex in the man’s office. She told the court that the doctor later invited her in the evening of the same day to his house so she could pick an ointment he earlier prescribed for her treatment. There, they engaged in another round of intercourse, she narrated. The young woman said she reported to the barrack’s chaplain after becoming crushed by the weight of her guilt. Below is the full text of the judgment of the president of the Martial Court on the matter. CAP A20 Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004. The issue for determination: This honourable court is required to determine whether the accused has committed the offence by having sexual relations with a service personnel spouse. The court finds in the affirmative; the accused confessed to the offence in the presence of witnesses. Decision:- The court therefore finds the accused guilty Count One as charged. “Count-2:- The accused is charged with the disgraceful conduct of an indecent nature punishable under section 93 of the Armed Forces Act, CAP A 20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.” The Issues for Determination: This honourable court is required to determine whether the accused has committed the offence of disgraceful conduct of an indecent nature. The particulars of the offence were by the accused being the unit Regimental Medical Officer, committed an act of gross indecency with his patient – Prosecution witness 2 – by fingering of her vagina under the pretext of conducting medical examination without the presence of a chaperon. In our opinion, the prosecution failed to proof that the vaginal examination was a pretext for fingering the patient and not the necessary procedure in the treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease. He could have verified this by seeking the opinion of an independent medical practitioner. If the prosecutor has been able to prove that the vaginal examination was a pretext of fingering the prosecution witness-2, they might have been able to sustain a charge of disgraceful conduct of an indecent nature. “In the opinion of this honourable court, the prosecutor was only able to prove that the accused person conducted a vaginal examination on a patient of opposite sex in the absence of a chaperon. Conducting an intrusive procedure such as vaginal examination in the absence of a chaperon contravenes the code of ethics of the medical and dental council of Nigeria under the rules of professional conducts for medical and dental profession. “We conclude there that the accused acted unethically. The matter should be referred to the Nigeria Medical Association. However, by contravening the ethics of his profession, the accused person acted in a manner unbecoming of a gentleman capable of bringing the Nigeria Army into disrepute. He conducted himself in a manner prejudicial to good order and service discipline; and therefore contravened section 103 of the Armed Forces Act. The court therefore invoked section 142 of the Armed Forces Act, finds the accused person guilty of the alternate offence of misconduct of prejudice to the service discipline. “At this point, before sentence is passed, we will like to hear mitigations on behalf of the accused, if any.” In a move to help the accused get a soft landing, his lawyer Major Femi Oyebanji (rtd) presented his somehow impressive Record of Service that was obtained from the office of the military secretary, Army, to help mitigate the already known punishment for his conviction. “Here is a brief of Lieutenant MM Bature, N/14543”, said Major Oyebanji. “Lieutenant Musa Mustapha Bature was born on 21 May, 1977 at Yawuri, and hails from Yawuri local government area of Kebbi state. He was granted a direct short service commission on 10 August, 2012 on the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority on the same rank on 10 August 2012. He is of the medical corp, Courses attended: Nil. Welcome to mjventertainment.com: Ceremonies to mark the centenary of World War I's Battle of the Somme began at 7.28am local time at the site in northern France on Friday, while Queen Elizabeth II laid flowers at the tomb of the unknown soldier in London's Westminster Abbey. With the ceremonies coming eight days after Britain voted to leave the EU, French President François Hollande commented that the "European idea" had brought 70 years of peace to the continent. At a vigil in France the Duke of Cambridge paid tribute to the fallen soldiers saying "we lost the flower of a generation". Hollande joined Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, for a two-minute silence to mark the start of the battle at the Lochnagar Crater (the Trou de la Mine in French), where British and French troops set off 30 tonnes of explosives under the German defences, starting the battle. The 91-metre diamater crater is still visible today. Later in the day Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, was to be present at the ceremony at the Thiepval memorial, which some 12,000 people were expected to attend. British Prime Minister David Cameron and the British royals were to read writings of former soldiers, while Hollande was to read an extract from Georges Duhamel's Civilisation, which record the horrors of the war. The day will end with a ceremony at the Fricourt cemetery, where 17,027 German soldiers are buried. Over a million killed and wounded An estimated 1,200,000 soldiers were killed, wounded or went missing - 500,000 of them British, 200,000 French - at the Battle of the Somme, making it the "most deadly of the Great War", according to the ceremonies' organisers. The British and French armies fought the Germans for five months in a battle of attrition along a 15-mile front. Brexit casts its shadow Although Hollande's advisers told Le Monde newspaper he was anxious to show that Brexit "take nothing away from our friendship and everything the British have done for Europe", the French president did make a point of praising the "European idea" on Thursday evening. It has "allowed us to overcome divisions and rivalries between states and brought us peace for 70 years", he commented.
