Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com: PROFILE OF CHIEF SAM ONUIGBO (ODOZI OBODO) PROFILE Sam Onuigbo, born on the 1st of October, 1960, in Umuahia, Abia State, had his early education at Community Primary School, Obuohia Obi-Ibere, Ikwuano and later attended Oboro Secondary Commercial School, Umudike, Ikwuano, Abia State. He then proceeded to Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri, Imo State for Nigeria Certificate in Education; Diploma in Law, University of Lagos; Master’s in Business Administration, Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu. Chief Onuigbo, attended Executive Education Programme on Leadership at the John F Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA; course at US Department of State Foreign Service Institute, National Foreign Affairs Training Center, Washington, DC; Public Affairs Council, Washington, DC; Training on Security by ASIS International at New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. He trained in Finance, Accounting and Corporate Governance. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, London; Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Management – Chartered; Member, ASIS International, Virginia, USA and Patron, Nigerian Institute of Management, Umuahia Chapter. 2. Chief Onuigbo, has held several management, executive and political positions at the National and State levels. He is a teacher, Fraud Prevention Specialist, Management and Financial Consultant, and a Public Affairs Analyst. After over 17 years of unbroken and meritorious service with the US Embassy Nigeria, during which he held the highly sensitive position of the Supervisory Fraud Prevention Specialist, he voluntarily resigned. He is a recipient of several Meritorious Honour Awards from the US Department of State; Professional and Vocational Service Awards from Rotary club International; Award of Honour from the Forum of Commissioners of Finance of Nigeria; Several Long Service Awards from the U.S. Department of State; Letters of Commendation from two former US Ambassadors to Nigeria 3. At the National level, he was Special Adviser, Public Affairs, Office of the Speaker, House of Representatives, National Assembly, Abuja. At the State level, he was the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Lands and Survey; the immediate past Commissioner for Finance; a former Board Member, International Glass Industries Limited, Aba. In each case, you can easily note his track records of achievements which is an eloquent testimony to the fact that Chief Onuigbo is a disciplined and tested professional who is focused, result oriented and of sound mind. He is the PDP Candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the 2015 general election. 4. Chief Onuigbo has been actively involved in various aspects of service to various communities—ancestral home, Magada Estate in Lagos – Ogun Mega City Project, and place of work. In furtherance of his drive towards the realization of his vision for the overall improvement of the wellbeing of his people, Chief Onuigbo, in 1998, attracted a grant of $3,000 (N279, 150) from the US Government Self-help Project for the construction of a block of three classrooms for his Alma mata—Community Primary School, Obuohia Obi-Ibere. This was done to end years of suffering by the pupils who had to pack two-streams in one classroom because of lack of classrooms. Upon the successful completion of the project, it was commissioned by the former US Ambassador to Nigeria, Howard Franklin Jeter and the former Governor of Abia State in May, 2001. Again, in 2003, Chief Onuigbo attracted a grant of $10,000 from the US Ambassador’s Special Self Help Fund, with which he facilitated the establishment of a public secondary school (Ambassador’s College, Obuohia, Obi-Ibere, Ikwuano) in his community. Chief Onuigbo embarked on this laudable project to end the hardship of the students who had to trek upwards of 12 (twelve) kilometres to and from school every school day. He also attracted the on-going construction by NDDC of the Okwe-Obuohia-Umuemenike-Ahiaorie Ring Road, as contained in the 2013 approved budget of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on NDDC. 5. Chief Onuigbo is of the unshakeable faith that education is probably the greatest gift that one can give to an individual. Accordingly, he has supported many indigent students from his community and beyond to actualize their academic dreams. This conviction is why he has been able to provide scholarships in various sums to students of Ambassador’s College, Obuohia Obi-Ibere, Ikwuano, Abia State. In furtherance of his resolve to continue to support people academically and professionally, he has assisted many persons to become professional managers by sponsoring their registration with the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered). Chief Onuigbo’s philanthropic drive has so far achieved tremendous and verifiable results and has impacted positively on the lives of the beneficiaries of his large-heartedness. 6. Chief Onuigbo steadily supports materially and morally the National Youth Corpers serving at the Ambassador’s College, Obuohia Obi- Ibere, Ikwuano. 7. In recognition of the achievement of many of his leadership goals and his verifiable contributions to infrastructural and human capital development efforts in Ikwuano Local Government Area, he was in 2001, bestowed with the award of Okeosisi of Ikwuano by Ikwuano Development Union. Chief Onuigbo, holds two traditional titles, (i) Odozi Obodo I of Ugwu-Ibere Ancient Kingdom; and (ii) Ebubedike I of Otu Uzo Autonomous Community. Chief Onuigbo, a devout Christian and committed community leader, is married with children.
