Welcome to mjventertainment.blogspot.com:...23-YEAR OLD NIGERIAN MUSICIAN WHO MARRIED 62-YEAR OLD AMERICAN GRANDMOTHER RECEIVES HIS VISA SK MODE AND AMELIA The 23-year old budding Nigerian musician, Mr. Somkenechukwu Victor Adimike, alias SK Mode, who got married to a 62-year old Columbian-American widow, Amelia Felix, who he met on the internet in 2008, has been granted an immigrant visa into the United States of America. The CR1 visa is as a Conditional Spouse of a US Citizen, with an option to apply for a full American citizenship status after one year and was issued to Mr. Adimike on Thursday, October 29, 2009. This brings to an end the Nigerian part of a year-long saga which has involved several frustrating visits to the American Embassy, legal proceedings in the US, various complaints of intimidation against the US Embassy in Nigeria which the couple said accused them of being fake because of the massive difference in their ages and strong resistance from Amelia’s children. Amelia has three children – two daughters and a son with the eldest being 40 this year and the youngest at 33. They tried all they could to stop her from coming to Nigeria or marrying Victor, but she succeeded in having her way. She distanced herself from her children and even drove the last one, who resides with her, out of the house. Her son, Reinaldo, who is 38 this year, even sent us a mail saying that his mother suffered from schizophrenia and has been very lonely since she lost her husband, a retired Air force officer, to cancer in 2007. In the Tuesday, September 1 edition of ENCOMIUM WEEKLY, we carried an interview of Victor and Amelia where they told their love story. Amelia told of how she became very lonely after the death of her husband and how her friends encouraged her to try out romance on the Web. She had listed her requirements for a new man and stipulated an age of not less than 56 years. But that didn’t deter Victor who got attracted to her when he saw her picture. They took time to size out each other and Amelia eventually found out that Victor was merely 22 at that time. According to Amelia, “The first time I saw him (they got webcams to see each other with), I started to cry. I cried because when I saw how young he was, I was really startled. But I felt an attraction for him that I could not understand… that was when I knew I had to meet him in person.” Amelia said that she even tried keeping away from him for some time but that didn’t work. “The attraction was so strong that I used to run straight from work to the computer to talk to him when we started talking again.” They also found out more about each other. Victor, an only son, was a recording artiste with an album titled MODE N STYLE to his name. They were also astrologically compatible, according to Amelia who dabbled into such things. Amelia herself had well developed musical interests and used to work as a substitute teacher in her state of Florida, USA. She decided to visit Nigeria and after a romantic couple of weeks with Victor, they got married at an Akure Registry in September 2008. Since then all their attempts to get a visa for Victor to relocate to the United States had been futile because the Embassy was understandably suspicious of their union. She returned to the US to fight on that front while Victor continued making visa attempts here in Nigeria. Their prayers have now been answered and her Victor is now set to join her. Reply Amelia c. Felix-Adimike on November 24, 2012 at 11:52 pm Gold digging on whose side? Victor was not frightened, he was apprehensive, we are very private people, ad we were not sure if allowing the media to come into our lives would help or hurt us. I was happy to prove to the world that our relationship was real. We have been married 4 years now. Yet the world would rather see two men being married to each other, than to allow a woman like me to be married to a younger man. This world is biased towards women. If women were allowed to voice their opinions the world would know, that most of those that remained widows, and those that did not marry for fear of the opinions of others, did so only to appease society. Deep down in their hearts, its not what they really wanted. Some like me, that decided to take the plunge, no matter what, are happy with their decision, yet, they are still bigots out there who are misjudging us. Some wished they had our courage. Most women who wanted to make changes in their lives, wished they were allowed to pick up the pieces of their lives, but family and so called friends did not allow them to do it. Those who chose to live as nuns regret it, but they are too shy, afraid of what might be said, and prefer to live according to the merciless rules of society rather than be happy. I did not choose to look for a younger husband, life chose him for me, and I willingly accepted. Reply
