The foreign expatriates, all contractors, were said to have been abducted while working with Lafarge on the outskirts of Calabar, Cross River state. The men were released unharmed four days after they were kidnapped by gunmen police officers and a state security adviser informed on Sunday. Earlier reports by the police had explained the number of victims who were kidnapped and their specific nationalities. Speaking on the latest development, Jimoh Ozi-Obeh, the Cross River state commissioner of police, confirmed that the men were not hurt after being released, but refused to give the names of the abductees. According to the state governor’s security adviser, Jude Ngajim: “They are safe and sound,” he said, noting that a doctor had made medical checks and pronounced them “fit and sound.
